Brisland wins Berkeley Vale substation augmentation and extension project

The augmentation and extension of the existing Berkeley Vale substation, located on Apprentice Drive, Berkeley Vale, involves installing two new 132kV outdoor feeder bays, each comprising a feeder disconnector with line and load side earthing switches and a dead tank circuit breaker. It also involves making the necessary modifications to the existing Switchroom building to accommodate two new groups of 11kV switchgear.

The installation of two additional sections of 11kV switchgear, each section comprising a single 2000A busbar, two 2000A transformer panels, one 2000A bus-section panel, four 800A double feeder panels and two 630A single feeder panels, is also necessary.

This project also involves rearranging the existing CLC equipment and tee connecting two 11kV Frequency Injection Units to respective 11kV transformer tails.

Works also include providing a second battery room to enable the installation of an additional new 110V Ni Cad alkaline battery. An additional new battery charger is to be provided and installed in the Control Room. Provision of an additional DC distribution board and the rearrangement of the existing DC circuitry to implement the ‘A’ and ‘B’ DC bus configuration is also required.

The anticipated on site project commencement date is 30th July 2007 and completion is January 2009.

Site Supervisor is Mick Jackson, Contracts Manager is Chris Brown, Operations Manager/ Project Manager is Ron Payne.
