Brisland's Safety Policy

BRISLAND is committed to the Health, Safety, Welfare and Rehabilitation of its employees, and also to creating a safe working environment for all persons on site including clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, visitors and the public through continuous improvement in Occupational Health and Safety.

BRISLAND’s Corporate OHS System is based on the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2000, guidelines from the Master Builders Association, WorkCover Authority and the New South Wales Government’s OHS & R Management System Guidelines. It is certified to AS/NZS 4801:2001 and has achieved Provisional Accreditation with the Federal Safety Office. BRISLAND’s Occupational Health and Safety Policy forms part of the company’s accredited ISO 9001:2000 Quality System Certification and our Safety System has been accredited by the Building Industry Council of Australia. Our Safety Procedure is QA Procedure 28 and a copy is available on site.

People are our most important asset and their health and safety is our primary responsibility. The public shall be given equal priority to that of our employees or subcontractors. The provision of appropriate resources to achieve this outcome is a key undertaking of BRISLAND Pty Ltd.

Our principal objectives are to:

  • Ensure health and safety is an integral part of every managerial and supervisory position.

  • Ensure health and safety is considered in all our planning and work activities.

  • Involve our employees and/or subcontractors in decision-making processes through regular communication, consultation and training.

  • Provide a continuous program of education and learning to ensure that our work is conducted in the safest possible manner.

  • Identify and control all potential hazards in the workplace with the primary aim of eliminating hazards completely or alternately minimising their risks.

  • Monitor health and safety performance to ensure all accidents or incidents are thoroughly investigated to prevent recurrence across the company.

  • Ensure compliance with Legislation, codes of Practice, Australian Standards and other accepted guidelines.

  • Ensure that effective injury management and return-to-work for all employees or subcontractors is initiated.

Our success is reliant upon:

  • Commitment at all levels demonstrated by pro-active planning of all work activities with due consideration to implementing OHS&R controls that are suitable to each given situation.

  • Understanding the total work process and associated OHS&R risks.

  • Total commitment to achieving our objectives through the provision of appropriate training and methods of review.

  • The implementation of open communication between management, employees and subcontractors to achieve the best possible OHS&R outcomes.
