Brisland’s Environmental Management Policy

BRISLAND Pty Ltd supports the principles of Ecological Sustainable Development (ESD). The company recognises that its construction endeavours contribute to the built environment of Australia and shape the landscape.

The company’s policy is to use, conserve and enhance resources so that ecological processes are considered and adherence to legal and client requirements achieved. Further, Brisland’s policy is to identify those environmental aspects and impacts of its projects which it can control and which it can influence.

The company is committed to shaping its organisational culture to adhere to improving and achieving high standards in environmental management, is committed to the continual improvement and prevention of pollution, preservation of flora and fauna, and also integrating sound environmental practices in day-to-day work practices. This is in keeping with the company’s overall total quality management perspective to continuously improve in all aspects of the business.

BRISLAND Pty Ltd demonstrates through its Corporate Environmental Management System and Site Environmental Plans that environmental considerations receive priority attention on a continual basis. The Environmental Management System is based on ISO AS/NZS 14001:2004: Environmental Management Systems and the New South Wales Government’s Environmental Management System Guidelines and environmental legislative and regulatory requirements. This provides a framework for setting and reviewing environmental objects and targets relevant to Brisland’s construction projects. Brisland’s Business Management Procedure P29 and related forms applies.

BRISLAND Pty Ltd’s Corporate Environmental Management System was accredited by the NSW Government Construction Agency Coordinating Committee in March 2004. The system has been accredited to ISO AS/NZS 14001:2004.

Education/Training of all employees on environmental issues emphasises the commitment of senior management to Brisland’s EMS being the method by which the company enhances environmental performance. All employees will be encouraged to participate in education/training programmes. The company’s environmental policy, procedure and Site Specific Environmental Management Plan form part of the site induction process for all site personnel including subcontractors.
